2000 SSI OPEN Ready to Rip
Ten Skysurf Teams set to duke it out for Seven Slots to the 2000 X Games Deliberations are set to begin for the 2000 SSI Virtual Open, with ten teams from six nations having submitted tapes. Judging will take place June 3-4 with SSI Judges gathered both in person and online. A live Judge Cam and a results page will allow online readers to peek in on the process and follow the scoring as it happens.

Teams selected will be invited to take part in the "Richest Event In Skydiving History" at the sixth annual SSI Skysurfing competition within the 2000 ESPN X Games. There, they will join all the returning medalists from the 1999 event for the chance to compete for another record purse, TBA, but guaranteed to be over $66,600. One team will also become a part of the SSI Legacy of X Games Skysurfing Champions.

WHAT: The sixth annual SSI Skysurfing competition within the 2000 ESPN X Games and the ultimate competition in the sport of skydiving.
WHEN: August 9 - 14, 2000
WHO: The ten best pro skysurfing teams in the world.

7 Teams selected from SSI Virtual Open
1 Alternate Team invited directly.
All Teams must meet the 2000 SSI Safety & Proficiency guidelines.
WHERE: X Games Skysurfing Venue is at the ..... in ....., CA, about .. minutes ..... of San Francisco via the ..... .... Bridge. (We're dying to tell you, but the permit has not gone through yet!) The X Games skate-centric venue is on Piers 30-32 in the city of San Francisco.
WHY? Why not? But the $66,600 or more Cash Purse ain't bad either! The purse ties the all time record in the history of the skydiving set by this event last year and shared by all ten teams! And it brings the total pay out of all SSI pro events to $383,200! A Super Otter MIGHT be providing the airlift.

Sanctioned and organized by: SSI, the worldwide governing body for Pro Skysurfing.
Entry Fee: None. Teams invited to participate are responsible for their own travel expenses, food and accommodation.
TV: This multi-sport event will be featured in the August 19-27 week of broadcasts. 28 hours of original coverage will be sent to over 143 million North American households via ESPN (75m TV HH) and ESPN2 (68.5m TV HH.)
Additional domestic distribution is planned in special X Games installments of ABC Wide World of Sports, reaching over 100 million households in the U.S.A. and at least five times the number of viewers (ratings) than ESPN.
ESPN International's 20 networks, including Eurosport, will broadcast ~12 hours to another 164 million households in 21 languages to over 180 countries and territories beginning in September.
