Flight Over the Bay

On Sunday, June 11, skydivers Dave Bryce of Portsmouth, RI, and Bonnie Welcome of Turners Falls, MA, successfully completed what they believe to be the first cross-country canopy flight over the Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island.
 
The two exited at 10,000 feet over the western passage of the Narragansett Bay and flew east over the northern tip of Jamestown Island. After crossing the island, they flew over the eastern passage of the Bay and landed on Aquidneck Island, the home of Skydive Newport. They obtained permission for the skydive through air traffic control prior to the jump.

New British Womens Record

VMAX, the british Womens 4-Way Formation Skydiving Team has established the new British Womens Formation Skydiving Record with the score of 19 points in 35 seconds in the last round of the British National Skydiving Championships in July 2000. The new British Record has just been confirmed by the BPA and has also been submitted to the FAI as the new World Record in the Women's event. It is anticipated that this score will be established as the World Record shortly.

News from Omniskore

The San Carlos 2001 boogie information is now posted at www.skydiveaz.com; I mention it here because I went last year and had the time of my life. Scenic skydives, great organizers and awesome parties at a VERY nice resort on the Pacific ocean. Highly recommended.

To all Nationals competitors: You've been training hard all year and you're about ready to hop on the plane to Perris. Wait - have you read the rules yet? Be sure to down load the latest SCM at www.uspa.org/Publications/SCM/ and read it carefully. The single biggest change this year is teams are now required to supply their own videographer (a cheer from manifest, the meet director and the judges). Another cool change is now all teams get to do all ten rounds; there are no more cuts after rounds 8 and 9, unless the MD deems it necessary. Of course, the Intermediate categories do six rounds only.

Gestohlene Gears

Am 21.01.00 wurde in Berlin ein Springerfahrzeug gestohlen, das beladen war mit Fallschirmen, die für die Einlagerung vorgesehen waren. Es handelte sich dabei um folgende Ausrüstungen:
